Work while you study
What a study permit allows, who hires students here, and the two things you will be asked to write: a CV, and an email to a professor.
In one minute
- On a study permit: 20 hours a week and 1,040 hours a year, both at once.
- The university itself pays students for part-time work, tax-free, up to 200 hours a year.
- Internships go through the Career Service, and a curricular one counts towards your degree.
The limit comes first
Two limits, both at the same time
Unused weekly hours cannot be saved up and worked full time over the summer. Working beyond either limit needs the permit converted before it expires. Tell every employer at the start that you hold a study permit.
Who hires students
The university first: it pays on time, fits around lectures and understands exams.
- Student collaborations at UNIPD
Paid part-time work for the university itself, up to 200 hours a year. It is compatible with the regional scholarship. Apply in Uniweb through the Richiesta di Agevolazioni, from 13 July to 30 November 2026. First-year bachelor's students cannot apply; first-year master's students can.
UNIPD student collaborations pay:€8.26 an hour net · €7.02 for study-room supervision - UNIPD Career Service job showcase
Job and internship offers reserved for UNIPD students and graduates, regularly updated.
- Informagiovani, Comune di Padova
The city's youth information office. It publishes the list of employment agencies in the province and answers questions about finding work.

Internships
Two kinds, and the difference matters.
During your degree
Curricular internship
Training that is part of your course, with a university tutor and one at the company. It earns credits: check how many your degree gives for it.
After you graduate
Extracurricular internship
For recent graduates, within 12 months of the degree. A common first step into a company here.
Offers are on the Career Service's job showcase, and its internships office answers at stage@unipd.it.
A CV that works here
Start from Europass
The EU's free CV builder, in Italian or English, in a format every Italian employer recognises. Build one.
End with the privacy line
Student-reportedItalian CVs close with consent to process your data. Recruiters look for it: “Autorizzo il trattamento dei miei dati personali ai sensi del Regolamento UE 2016/679.”
Say your Italian level honestly
Use the European scale (A1 to C2). A2 said plainly beats “fluent” found out in the interview.
Say what your permit allows
A line such as “Study permit, part-time work allowed” saves an employer the question.
An email to a professor, in the Italian they expect
Office hours, a thesis, an exam sign-up that went wrong, a reference letter. Pick one, fill in the gaps, copy it.
